Of late I have been asked about some of the photographs I took  at ECT, I have taken a lot. So I was contacted by Doug Pratt about a show he did and if I still had the pictures. Well I do and looking for them was not as hard as I thought it would be. I have been trying to organize my work so most of the work I did at the theater is together not all of it but I hope to finish soon so it will all be together.

For me the years seem to  blend together so I am not sure of the years but here is a blast from the past. Enjoy.

I cannot remember when or do I remember how.

What I do remember is your smile

What I do remember is your kind words.

It is hard to say what it was about you just that whenever we met

You had a smile a kind word and a voice of encouragement.

You were a guiding light,

What matter is that I was blessed to have had you in my life

A ship passing in a great ocean, shining a guiding light on my path.

And blessing of joy.

The frill temple may be gone but the spirit that it housed is still here glowing bright

Issue 3 was not for Ohioans

The first thing is that giving ten investors control of a million maybe billion dollar Industry did not make sense. Even if you wanted to legalize marijuana why make a law that would create a black market of the current system of distribution. Any law made should allow for all Ohioans to benefit from it, not a select few,

Second and most important is not the legalizing of marijuana but the legalizing of Hemp. Hemp is a crop that can help Ohio framers in many ways. It is a cash crop that can used in rotation with corn a major crop in Ohio, any law should reflect this. As well as way to protect this crop from contamination by marijuana plants that could destroy the Quality of the crop and the profits. Look at research done at Purdue and in Canada where framers have been growing hemp for over ten years now to see the importance of this crop to Ohio.

Legalizing marijuana for medical and recreational use could then but put in place that would not create a burden for law enforcement try catch everyone who refuse to pay for the corporate priced goods but, the goods of the guy they trusted for years.

Simply put, there should be a License to grow, to sell, and to distribute marijuana for medical and rec use. While allowing Ohio framers to grow Hemp crops to compete in the vast markets that uses this crop around the world.

When I sat down to write I believed that the cotton industry would benefit from growing hemp, blending hemp and cotton my research surprised me.

I find that working shows is fun. To see the show  over and over you would think would be boring but no. For me it is ashame that many won’t even go to a show even if givin free tickets . They miss out on a life experience that many people enjoy. Theater is not for everyone but for me it is a lifesaver. Theater in  Cleveland is the best.

Sitting  here waiting to start  Show I think how much fun it is to do shows like this.  Lots of tech.

I am biases when I say it is great to live in East Cleveland, I know most want agree with me and that’s ok. Now you ask what is special about EC? Let’s start with The Third day of October a Saturday that was raining. At Shaw High School a Teen Summit was held. Now when you were young would you give up a Saturday to come to school? Well these Kids did and after walking around talking to some of the adults working the summit I can see why. This is a good opportunity for them to have a voice not something they get in a normal class room setting, but in these summit workshops they are allowed and inspired to express themselves. Workshops on mapping out the future, would have you surprises at how each one was engaged. These young adults where thinking about their future and willing to listen to advise. This was the seventh year the summit was held and participation is still strong with vendors and students. Vendors covered Health, and Environment Issues, as well as  After school programs. Overall another positive thing happening in East Cleveland.

Labor Day is pasted and we move on from summer with thoughts now focus on the fall season. Labor Day marks the end of summer just a few weeks away fall is coming. This as we know happens every year. But what you might not know unless you went to Shaw or live in East Cleveland is that every year since approximately 1992 the Shaw High Alumni have put together an All Class Reunion Weekend. I would say with much success it has grown. As one might think with each class that graduates from Shaw adds to the ranks. I have watched this event as it has grown, but this year I am just floored by the sure volume of people. Many times I have been to the picnics given on the last day that Sunday in the park event bring many former students as well as old residents of the community looking to see if they’ll find an old friend or an old classmate. And as an after affect there is always an after-party given at the local bars all whom has some connection to Shaw either as students or parents of students. In the past there was four that opened their doors this spread the crowd out around the city. This year with the loss of the room to fire, Tuckers and the Park Avenue took up the slack. As people poured onto Euclid and Taylor EC Police came to direct traffic and the party began. Many Cities would fear such a gathering of people. But not here, If want to know what civic pride is come to East Cleveland On Labor Day weekend and You will witness civic pride at its best.

November in Cleveland has brought us a new season, I call it Falwinter as you can see the leaves are still on the trees but the ground is covered with snow. I hear that this happen in Michigan so guess where I won’t be retiring to.
